Artist Statement

I make art to express how I perceive this world: thoughts, ideas, interpretations that I cannot express with words.  Having moved my roots many times in my adult life, I explore issues of identity, transition, and transcendence. The vast space between having left and not arrived, and what happens in it, attracts my attention.

I am interested in translating drawings into works in fiber. Therefore material is an important element of my visual language. A line drawn with a pencil, quilted, hand stitched with cotton floss, or needle felted wool yarn each evoke their particular association. Layered materials contribute to the narrative.

Often I just play.
